Protect your email

It has become very common getting spam in our inbox.

Protecting our email ID from spam is very important.

Spam-bots are used to collect the email IDs online.

Sometimes we have to provide our email ID to get in touch with our visitors.
Then these email IDs are open to all. At the same time, some spammers use their bots to collect such email IDs & they create a list of email IDs and they start sending emails to us.

Generally those emails are about advertisements of products & services that they want to sell. There are many services to do the same (email marketing) legitimately without spamming/irritating others. Of course, it costs a little but affordable. So these people who don’t want to pay would play such type of tricks. Whenever an email ID appeared open, these spam-bots will collect it.
As a result, we get spam or junk emails.

It is hardly possible to escape from spam, once we disclose our email ID to the public.

So we must be careful, while we are giving our email ID to someone.
While signing-up for a service, we must read their privacy policy whether our email ID is shared with others. We have to share only with trusted people.

Whenever we get a spam email from someone, first we make it known to the email provider as spam so that all mails come from that email ID will be blocked in the future.

If we want to provide our email ID at open places, we no need to share it as it is.
We can use contact forms to get in touch so that our email ID will not be displayed directly to the bots.

Though it is not the perfect solution for this issue, it helps us a little.
Another solution is using an image of our email ID. It is nothing but our email ID is displayed as an image so that bots can’t read it but human.

for instance, we can use www.emailcover.com.

Again spammers can see our email ID and use it for their marketing purposes.

I found another solution somewhere, i.e. using some script to encrypt our email ID and use that code wherever email ID is required. When clicked, our email ID will work properly. But I don’t know whether it works or not. I didn’t try it as I am not ready to play with unknown scripts being not familiar with scripts at present.
I found some positive reviews that are saying “Yes it works”, yet I didn’t give it a try.

The best solution is using a secondary email ID for all online activities.

When I created my personal email ID 5 years ago, I have used it for only for my personal offline uses. As a result, ID didn’t get any spam till now, as I didn’t share it online.
If I got no important mail for six months, my email ID remains without new mails.
It is possible to protect our email IDs as we want.
But we have to check our email ID often, though we have no new mails, because email ID can be blocked if we don’t use it for a long period.

Don’t forget to use email filters to separate mails come from different sources.
I use filters on my secondary email ID for all services I use.
I get many mails daily from different senders and all are sorted in their respective folders automatically and finally I found no new mails in my Inbox.
So I can check only the required mails and I no need to check a mail that requires action next week.

I found somewhere that “If you are using 30 online services that send you emails daily, create 30 email IDs and use respectively”. But creating filters gives us the same availability and easy to access with one log-in account. Hence we can escape from one more thing i.e. remembering all usernames & passwords, an extra issue.
So it is the nice solution than the above quoted.

Thank you and be cool.
